LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif said the agreement between his party and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is now left nothing more than a piece of a paper. Addressing party workers here, he said if the Charter of Democracy had been put in force, the assassins of Akbar Bugti would have been behind bars.
The PML-N chief said his party is fully geared up to cooperate with the government, urging the government to fulfil all its promises.

PML-N wants repeal of 17th Amendment on priority: Ch. Nisar
ISLAMABAD, June 17 (APP): Political Consular British High Commission Chris Sainty called on Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here on Wednesday and discussed with him matters of mutual interest. The Chief Minister apprised the Political Consular of the steps taken by the Punjab government for education reforms, socio-economic development and welfare of the masses in social sector.
He informed that huge funds have been allocated in the new budget for provision of maximum facilities and relief to the poor and middle class segments of the society, rapid development of the province and extending basic amenities in rural and urban areas.

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza Tuesday unveiled a 27-member Special Committee of the Parliament on Constitutional Reforms. Ishaq Dar, Asrarullah Zahri, Lashkari Raeesani, Rehmatullah Kakar, Raza Rabbani, Pervaiz Ashraf, Naveed Qamar, Muneer Khan Orakzai, Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, Asfanyar Wali, Haji Adeel, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, Dr Farooq Sattar, Hyder Abbas Rizwi, Dr Abdul Malik, Dr Zaheer ud Din, Chudhry Nisar, SM Zafar, Abdur Rahim Mandokhel, Shahid Hasan Bugti, Wasim Sajjad, Abdur Razzaq Thaheem, Fazlur Rehman, Humayoun, Prof Khursheed and Aftab Sherpao.
The committee comprises the 27 members from the National Assembly and Senate.
 
Shahbaz, Nisar call on James Jones
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) President Mian Shahbaz Sharif and the Opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Thursday held a meeting with US National Security Adviser James Jones.
The PML-N leadership urged the US to respect the sovereignty of Pakistan.

Nawaz against opening new fronts without political consultation
ISLAMABAD, June 18 (APP): Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif Thursday said the government should avoid opening any new fronts without political consultation and taking all the segments of the society on board to avoid negative fallout on people and the economy. “Ii is essential that the government takes all sections of society including political forces, religious scholars and media on board prior to opening new fronts; otherwise it would be difficult for the government to achieve desired results,” said the PML-N chief while addressing a consultative meeting of the party leadership here.  
Ahsan Iqbal criticizes hoisting of PPPP flags all over the Capitol City
ISLAMABAD, July 3 (Online): Central Secretary Information of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Ahsan Iqbal has accused the government of hoisting PPP flags on electricity towers at the capital roads by using official machinery and resources.
Addressing a hurriedly called press conference here on Friday, he categorically made it clear that: “Pakistan does not need PPP flags but needed national unity”.

Opposition walks out over power tariff
ISLAMABAD: The opposition on Tuesday staged a token walkout from the National Assembly in protest over the government’s decision of withdrawal of subsidy on electricity and raising power tariff by 17 per cent.
